Dr. Liz Parrillo, Physical Therapist Elizabeth Parrillo applies her love of fitness to treat the whole patient, taking a holistic approach to therapy in order to prevent future injury and enhance the patient’s overall health. She strongly believes that the body is designed to heal itself and uses a hands-on approach to maximize recovery time.
Her innovative techniques include incorporating aspects of Pilates and yoga into her patients’ treatment plans to improve stability, flexibility and core strength. For the athlete, she applies sports-specific exercises and rehabilitation. One of Elizabeth’s core areas of expertise includes posture re-education therapy and utilizing techniques to improve patients’ postural awareness during the work day and in their lifestyles to reduce neck and shoulder pain and stiffness. She works closely with each patient to customize home exercise programs that are a realistic fit with their lifestyle and time commitment. Elizabeth graduated at the top of her class from the University of St. Augustine, where she earned her doctorate degree in physical therapy. In addition, she earned her Manual Therapy Certification after taking advanced coursework; the focus of which included extremity and spine joint mobilizations and interventions, myofascial techniques, and neuromuscular interventions. She has also intensively studied trigger point therapy, proprioceptive and balance training and taping techniques. Elizabeth graduated magna cum laude from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science where she studied Health Science and Nutrition.
