Paul Ochoa , Physical Therapist
Paul Ochoa specialized in medical massage therapy for nine years prior to becoming a physical therapist. His knowledge of evidenced-based practices combined with his experience in manual techniques effectively restores healthy and efficient movement and returns bodies to a state of optimal health. He accomplishes this by releasing chronic pain patterns and trigger points, softening adhesions, and more.
For three years, Paul was the massage coordinator for the New York Road Runners Elite Runners. His expertise related to the biomechanics of running has been vital in the successful treatment of world class athletes. As a physical therapist, Paul continues to treat common running injuries, as well as a variety of other musculoskeletal issues, using his combined approach of evidence-based practices and manual techniques. A graduate of Touro College with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, Paul was awarded the Distinguished Student Award of his graduating class for organizing a tutor/mentorship program at the school, which continues to thrive. He also attended Hunter College, majoring in Psychology. Throughout Paul’s graduate career, he completed a number of internships, including one at Bellevue Hospital’s neurological rehabilitation facility. Paul is a native New Yorker and has a martial arts background in Capoeira and Muay-thai. He is also an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, including the sports, orthopedic and neurology sections. In addition to his experience with manual techniques, his expertise in assessment and his knowledge of evidence-based practices, Paul partners with his patients in order to produce optimal results. He believes that an educated patient is vital to a successful rehabilitation outcome. « back |
