ERIC-MUNOZ-Physical-Therapist

Eric Munoz began his career in the late 1990’s as a personal trainer, helping people attain personal fitness and wellness.  He now combines his fitness expertise along with his clinical knowledge as a physical therapist to effectively optimize patients’ physical health.  Eric’s treatment approach combines various manual techniques, neuromuscular re-education and patient-specific therapeutic exercise.

While completing his undergraduate degree in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College, Eric began training at New York Sports Club (NYSC).  He then pursued a full-time career in fitness as he continued his post-graduate education.  Eric quickly rose to the rank of Master Trainer at NYSC and eventually started his own personal training company.  Over the years, Eric has conducted fitness workshops, provided wellness consulting to corporations, and trained (and continues to train) private clients throughout Manhattan.  During his career as a personal trainer, Eric has served a dynamic and varied client base, ranging from teenage athletes to older adults with severe medical conditions.

Eric completed his post-graduate work and received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Touro College in 2010.  He was honored with an Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a GPA over 3.6, as well as a Research Achievement Award in recognition of his exemplary performance during the research component of the program.  During his clinical education, Eric experienced a variety of settings, including Bellevue Hospital’s inpatient acute care unit, NYU/HJD’s outpatient clinic, Mount Sinai Hospital’s neurological inpatient rehab, and other private manual orthopedic clinics in NYC.

Eric holds a variety of certifications, including American Council Exercise (ACE), Medical Exercise Specialist (MES), pre/post-natal and boxing from ISCA, TRX Sports Medicine Suspension Training Certified (SMSTC) and is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).  Eric is also an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Eric’s personal belief is that an active body is a large component of maintaining a healthy body.  His passion and commitment is to live an active and healthy lifestyle, to continue to pursue educational opportunities, and to share his knowledge with his patients and colleagues.
